What differentiates BrowserStack App Automate from other similar products?
The level of integration allowed is fantastic - every major app automation framework has an integration with BrowserStack, meaning developers and automation engineers don't need to learn a whole new framework. They can simply import an existing test codebase onto the platform and seamlessly move test automation to virtual and physical (remote) devices.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I think the artifact collection is amazing - debug reports, screenshots and video records are all critical in helping establish where problems originate from on a native app. Concurrent testing across multiple devices and OS' is also an extremely helpful feature that reduces time for test suites to run.
What do you dislike most about this product?
There is occasional flakiness in testing where tests won't find elements that can be found when running tests locally. This must have something to do with the way tests are distributed to cloud (remote and physical) devices, but it does present problems at times.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you are looking for an inexpensive solution to distributed device testing and automation (and cross browser testing for web apps), this is probably not your best bet. It can get expensive to license all of the features you may need, and it really does add up quickly. You can easily pick and choose what you may want, but the easiest outcome is to use everything within Browserstack instead of using some features here, rolling your own features to integrate, etc.
