What is Surfer SEO?
Surfer uses a data-driven model, which is a viable choice for busy SEOs, marketers, and content creators. Data-driven SEO is about making decisions based on datasets instead of so-called industry standards.

How to read the Emotional Footprint
The Net Emotional Footprint measures high-level user sentiment towards particular product offerings. It aggregates emotional response ratings for various dimensions of the vendor-client relationship and product effectiveness, creating a powerful indicator of overall user feeling toward the vendor and product.
While purchasing decisions shouldn't be based on emotion, it's valuable to know what kind of emotional response the vendor you're considering elicits from their users.

Good SEO Software With a Decent Free Version
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Surfer SEO from other similar products?
Unlike MarketMuse, Surfer has a robust free version which does not require giving up a gmail email address. For a small company, that can make the difference between using even a free version... or not.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The ability to pivot and change what you are looking for on the fly. If the software says to write a 5k word blog, but you know the really long-winded pages they are pulling up aren't on point, deselect them. The recommended word count will go down and the product will better address your needs.
What do you dislike most about this product?
While it's possible to change the terms it looks for, that can be a bit counterintuitive and slow. Because I had virtually no training (not their fault), it took me several passes before I figured out that this was an option.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Don't just take their recommendations hook, line, and sinker. Rather, investigate them. If, say, the product pulls up Wikipedia as a comparison/competitor, and you know that's wrong, just deselect it and Surfer will take it out of the equation. But that's only for the one piece of content you're working on. You'll need to do this again for the next one.
Pros
- Helps Innovate
- Continually Improving Product
- Reliable
