About Jim Kirk

Following a humble upbringing and education in Nova Scotia, I was just looking for a good job in the technology sector. I got my start on an Ontario government service desk in North Bay, Ontario. What followed was a whirlwind of personal and professional discovery.

I moved farther south (for a girl), and while I didn't know it at the time, this put me on parallel paths of growth. On the personal side, I married, and we started a family (#DadLife), and on the professional side, a $100 million IT infrastructure consolidation initiative accelerated my career and moved me from the individual contributor track to the leadership track. Ask me to tell you the story about how I got tricked into management. It's a good one.

After relocating back to the east coast with two babies in tow, I got to experience even more of what the Canadian public sector has to offer. A broader scope and differing levels of scale rounded out my practitioner and leadership toolboxes and gave me the confidence to approach any problem knowing I could solve it.

Today, I feel fortunate to be able to share what I've learned in support of IT leaders in provincial and municipal government who are busy optimizing the delivery of digital services to our fellow Canadians.
