About Mike Brown
Mike Brown is an Advisory Director in the Security & Privacy practice at Info-Tech Research Group. With 20+ years of experience working in IT and cybersecurity, he has assisted organizations in multiple verticals, including finance, telecommunications, government, and academia. His areas of focus include privacy, security strategy, network security, vulnerability management, cloud security, and governance, risk, and compliance (GRC).
Before joining Info-Tech Research Group, Mike was a Professor at Seneca Polytechnic where he developed and taught a cybersecurity foundations course to upper year students. Prior to that Mike worked at a private cybersecurity firm where he led internal GRC practices and worked externally with customers heading up the Risk Advisory Services team. Some of his other previous roles include leading an Engineering Support team for a managed security services provider (MSSP) and working in IT operations implementing, managing, and monitoring various cybersecurity solutions.
Mike is a graduate of the Computer Systems Technician program at Algonquin College in Ottawa where he was recruited by Global Affairs Canada at the onset of his career in cybersecurity. Mike holds professional certifications including Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA), and Certified Information Privacy Professional – Canada (CIPP/C).
