The healthcare market is simply massive, and Apple views the healthcare space as core to its application, services, and wearables strategies. Moving straight to the core issues of personal health records along with opportunities in research partnerships and medical devices, Apple seeks to take a bite out of the $3.5 trillion in healthcare spending this year in the US. The CMS projects US spending on healthcare to rise to $5.7 trillion by 2026, consuming almost 20% of US GDP.
