After a short list of co-location vendors has been determined (likely during the RFP process), IT must still take the next steps to ensure that all due diligence has be covered. Ensure that vendor claims are valid, and that facilities and surrounding areas are adequate for the organization’s server room co-location needs by conducting an evaluation of the site before, during, and after the site visits.
The co-location site visit & evaluation checklist covers areas such as:
- Environmental site location risk.
- Physical security of the co-location site.
- Facility upkeep and maintenance.
Use a co-location site visit and evaluation checklist to add an extra layer of due diligence during the co-location vendor selection process.
