What differentiates Automation Anywhere from other similar products?
Automation Anywhere is really the only product I have used. I tried Autoit and I never really stuck with it; however, I really like the Drag and Drop features in Automation Anywhere and found the development pretty straight forward with someone who has not used developed Bots before.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect about the product is the amount of resources that are available; both on a formal and informal level. A lot of development is posted on the Community and the Bots from the Bot Store give you ideas on how the product is used. Real examples where pertinent to my development and understanding of the product. It is also worth noting we used a third party for initial bot and implementation. We took a complicated process and used that learning process (along with the code) to build other Bots.
What do you dislike most about this product?
In my current state there isn't much that I dislike about the product. Most of the problems that I find is on the business side and not the technical side.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Take everything with a 'grain of salt'. It is a great and intuitive product; however, it is not perfect. No software is perfect. The product will need to be monitored and taken care with someone that has a deep understanding so when critical processes break, they can be fixed in a timely manner. The Bots will do what you tell it, and when processes take minor changes without communication that is when issues will arise. Perfect your processes before you implement your Bot, do not use the Bot to fix a broken process!
