Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates FileWave Mobile Device Management from other similar products?
The flexibility to do simple task and get it to work but the ability to make it more or less complicated depending on your specific use case. If you want to break things into many smart groups you can. you want filesets with multiple functions, you can. you want reporting on devices you can. You want to see what version of software is installed, script it and push it out. Want to force an install in the background for testing, you can. Want to have optional software installed for a few special cases, add it to the kiosk.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I like being able to push applications to devices for testing and easily push updates to devices remotely.
What do you dislike most about this product?
I dislike that it basically requires some basic scripting/coding knowledge for getting information off a machine. Now you can use the knowledge base for a lot of help but most of those are generic for IT to tweak or very specific. They have a lot of great resources and help for getting started.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
I would recommend sitting down and listing out how you want to create and organize devices before actually creating it. It wakes a lot of time to change a workplace environment after it's been created. After you have it how you want, document it for others who might have access or change items. This will help stick to a naming scheme and layout/structure. This can also help when making applications to push out and naming them, along with versioning software updates.
