What differentiates Google Authenticator from other similar products?
there is a local-only authenticator app, which means that the 2FA keys are stored only on the user's device, making it harder for the keys to be compromised, this is incredibly helpful! It is also arguably the most reliable app on my device, never experienced issues, sign-out's etc.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The consistency and reliability of the product. Never having issues certainly cements this app as the most satisfied application on my device.
What do you dislike most about this product?
My only concern is since it is a local only app, it does not offer a cloud backup feature for users' 2FA keys. This means that if a user loses their device or resets it, they may lose access to their accounts unless they have alternative 2FA methods set up. So its important that it is used in connection with other 2FA methods.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
As per my previous comment really. It is important that multiple 2FA methods are utilised when using Google authenticator as there are no cloud backups, so avoid getting locked out!
