GCP is a great and cost-effective product
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Google Cloud from other similar products?
Google Cloud is cost-effective and has an intuitive setup. The naming conventions used also ease migration and understanding. Our main reason for using GCP was the ease of setup, whilst having almost, if not all, the same feature as its competitors for a slightly better price.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The ability to integrate with numerous services such as GitHub and Slack. The entire infrastructure can also be managed with Terraform, which makes infrastructure management and setup a lot easier.
What do you dislike most about this product?
It is newer than most of its competitors, and some of the features that get added don't always work as expected. Furthermore, the customer support that we have received has not been that great. The audit trails on GCP are also not that easy to follow especially if someone changes the configuration of a service, it's not always easy to know who and how to roll back.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
I would definitely recommend it as a cost-effective alternative to other services. The documentation is easy to follow and setting up Cloud Runs, and Pub/Subs for event-driven architecture is simple and effective. There are a multitude of service available and there is constant development on the product with new features being released relatively quickly making it a great competitor.
Pros
- Helps Innovate
- Continually Improving Product
- Performance Enhancing
- Enables Productivity
