What differentiates HireVue from other similar products?
I also previously used Montage, and I think HireVue is very similar, as both products have the same goal. At my organization we integrated HireVue into our Avature ATS, so it has that perk, which other competitors might not also possess.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The ease for both the hiring team and the candidate. To be able to complete a screening on their own time and in their own place, it's awesome for a candidate. As the person watching the interview, I enjoy that I can watch them when I have time, can speed up the playback, and can input notes directly into the system. I like that I can record a message/introduction as the Recruiter, so that I can give a little bit of a more personal feel to candidates before they dive in.
What do you dislike most about this product?
I think any video interview software gets a bed reputation for not being as personable. Which yes, is true to a sense. And video interviewing can be intimidating for candidates as well. But if you set up your interviews thoughtfully, you can combat that. You can allow candidates the chance to practice first, or could give them two tries to complete an answer. You can also record a video of yourself at the beginning/end, so candidates still feel connected to a person in the organization.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
If you have the budget, and do A LOT of "phone interviews" currently, I think this is an awesome product. If you're not doing many first round interviews and are instead jumping into longer and more in depth interviews from the start, you might not need this product.
