What differentiates Hotjar from other similar products?
By recording user sessions, I can directly observe how they navigate our website to identify any usability issues. Heatmaps efficiently highlight the most clicked elements, making it easy to improve key components. Custom surveys also provide valuable feedback for assessing satisfaction. Hotjar has become a crucial tool in my optimization kit for gathering website UX insights.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Hotjar really shines by consolidating key capabilities like funnel analysis, form analytics, feedback polls and more on an intuitive centralized platform. With its robust filtering, I can segment data by location, device, page URL, and other parameters to surface actionable insights. The smart suggestion feature also automatically flags issues and opportunities in the data. Since we started using Hotjar, we've doubled our conversion rate by resolving user complaints and making our multi-page applications more streamlined. We've also seen an increase in page views due to enhancing our navigation cues by analyzing heatmap click data.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Although Hotjar's reporting doesn't provide as much detail as some standalone tools that exclusively focus on heatmaps, session recording, or customer feedback, it does provide enough functionality for most use cases. Getting started can be tricky due to the many analysis options available.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
For small teams without UX professionals, Hotjar offers a comprehensive suite for understanding user issues and enhancing experiences. I highly recommend Hotjar to any company serious about customer-oriented design through practical user analysis. The benefits gained for the reasonable cost are unparalleled in improving digital experiences.

What differentiates Hotjar from other similar products?
In my six years of marketing, I haven't come across another product this unique. I can visually see on a page what my customers are doing, what parts of my website work well, and which parts work poorly. The screen recording of customer sessions is what makes this product truly unique. It's one thing to know the number of clicks on a button in Google Analytics, but it's a whole other ball game to watch a mouse's movement over certain parts of our website. Another truly unique element to Hotjar is the "rage click" measurement, which allows me to see where users quickly click multiple times out of frustration, and troubleshoot that element.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect of Hotjar is the heatmaps. In my dashboard, I can see what areas of my page or site are heavily clickable, scrollable, or if the mouse hovered over a certain word or area. Plus, with filters, I can narrow down to specific user types doing specific actions on specific pages. This allows me to understand three things: 1) what elements or sections of my website are an appealing call to action for my viewers, 2) where the "top of the fold" is on specific pages so I can know where to place my most important elements, and 3) how my site visitors process and think when utilizing our website.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Hotjar is good at doing its job and not much else. It has a very specific purpose, and not much else. The integrations tend to make up for this. On the most basic plan, you also have limited coverage, so it ends up being only a sampling of all website traffic, which may or may not be an accurate reflection of all users.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Hotjar is a niche, impressive product that gives you an incredible look at how your customers use your website. I believe the value of Hotjar lies in two things: 1) It allows you to improve your website by seeing what helps or confuses your users. It gives you validation and direction for edits you or your team may want to make to your website. 2) It helps you see what elements on your site convert users and what language appeals to them. I would highly recommend Hotjar as a supplemental measurement for improvement of your site or deeper understanding of your customers.
