Fantastic Container Management Tool
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Kubernetes (K8s) from other similar products?
Kubernetes are very good at managing and orchestrating containers. It automates containerized applications deployment, scaling, and management, making it easier to handle complex container-based architectures.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
In addition to all the benefits of scaling, HA, infrastructure abstraction, etc., using Kubernetes helps us increase developer productivity by providing a scalable, extensible container orchestration platform that developers can easily design, iterate, and deploy as a self-service.
What do you dislike most about this product?
My dislikes for this product include the fact that there is a learning curve for users to get used to, the intricacy of the networking, and how frequently changes that are not backwards compatible destroy things.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Kubernetes is a suitable option if the application requires quick scaling, is already built on a microservices architecture, does not have a predictable traffic pattern, and the majority of the workforce already possesses the necessary skills.
Pros
- Helps Innovate
- Continually Improving Product
- Reliable
- Performance Enhancing

Node operation can also be entrusted to GCP
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Kubernetes (K8s) from other similar products?
With GKE Autopilot, you can also allow Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to operate your worker nodes. EKS, the Kubernetes service on AWS, is significantly different. Because we can entrust the operation of all nodes to GCP, we reduced the operational load. Because we could specialize in application development, we could accelerate the launch of services. In addition, by adjusting the resources used for each container, we could eliminate resource waste and reduce the number of instances. As a result, we could reduce infrastructure costs by approximately 60%.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The most significant advantage is that it is a KaaS service provided by Google, which developed Borg, the basis of Kubernetes, so it is very reliable. In addition, Anthos Service Mesh provides global load balancing for global application publishing. Also, Anthos (GKE on Prem) is easy to use because it is possible to create a GKE-equivalent environment in a local non-GCP environment. I used it when migrating the infrastructure of products running on GCE. Even if the machine stops running, it will automatically turn on, so it has improved fault tolerance and allowed us to automate CI/CD, reducing operating costs.
What do you dislike most about this product?
The cost of testing the impact of Kubernetes version upgrades on applications is too high, so it would be nice to have better support for version upgrades.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
With GKE, not only the primary node can be managed, but also the worker node so that we could reduce the man hours required for the operation. In addition, by using it with Anthos, it was possible to compile GKE on-site, and we could meet our internal security requirements.
Pros
- Continually Improving Product
- Reliable
- Performance Enhancing
- Enables Productivity
