What differentiates Microsoft Azure Virtual Machines from other similar products?
We use Azure VMs for hosting close to 6000 VDI workloads which gives us the flexibility to use various Azure market place images for quick testing of different OS types and we have a ton of features that can help save costs when the VDIs are not in use thereby helping organizations to keep a cap on the costing, these features are not available with all the public cloud players or private cloud providers.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
They are easily deployable, accessible and provides various SKU types for different kinds of workloads ranging from compute optimized to memory optimized and also helps in deploying workloads which may need burstable capacity on need basis based on credits accumulated.
What do you dislike most about this product?
There are hardly any features that i dislike but temporary storage limits for a VM are limited to 4 TB where as other public cloud provider supplies up to 48 TB which i feel is the downside of going with Azure VMs if there are storage intensive apps/data that needs to be validated.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
I would recommend this product to everyone who are looking to move away from private clouds or onprem datacenters since most of the organizations are already tied to Microsoft on one or other way and there are also cloud onboarding discounts being offered and also they can quickly migrate to Azure using fast track programs from Microsoft at a discounted price which is a win-win for both parties.
Pros
- Reliable
- Continually Improving Product
- Performance Enhancing
- Enables Productivity
