What differentiates Microsoft Defender for Endpoint from other similar products?
It's free, and if you use Windows, it'll already be installed. It runs in the background of the Windows operating system without the user being aware of it.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
It detects mailwares quickly. It receives updates on a regular basis in order to upgrade its database and improve performance.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Even though updates are important, having a lot of them in a short period of time can be annoying.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
I recommend using it as a first line of defense against malware, but don't rely on it too heavily. You will become a target for them if you do so.

Microsoft Defender: On Par With The Top Antivirus
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Microsoft Defender for Endpoint from other similar products?
What I found striking with Windows Defender was the fact that it did not consume a lot of compute resources (while being run in the background) on your computer compared to other antivirus solutions. Additionally, while in the past, it was an average antivirus and malware solutions provider, it is today on par with the top antivirus, giving the same powerful protection against viruses and malwares.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I love the automatic update features, which does not require constant manual interventions for this step. The browser integration is very useful, for it has the intelligence of blocking malicious softwares which have been downloaded. Last but not least: it works great, even while being offline, performs periodic scanning and uses machine learning when analyzing a suspicious and potentially malicious file.
What do you dislike most about this product?
It's ransomware solutions is only a preventive one (preventing your files from being encrypted right from the start), and does not have the power or threat intelligence to act in real-time against these types of attack in my opinion. Furthermore, if you are currently using another antivirus solutions, Microsoft Defender can't be run simultaneously.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
While Microsoft Defender is not the cutting edge in terms of antivirus protection, I have found it very useful, having used it for the past 5 years, especially if you have devices that cannot handle too intensive antivirus programs. It protect fairly well against viruses and malwares. I do recommend activating, updating and using it.
