What differentiates Slack from other similar products?
The most important advantage that I think Slack has got over close rival messaging tool has to be " ease of use ". The learning process to perfect how to send messages and join conversations on Slack channels is a matter of between a few hours and a day. This fast learning curve is very important for teams and organizations where productivity and easy adaptation of employees to software tools is prioritized.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
I love the Slack search function. This is one of the reasons why Slack has been effective for me. I rely on the search function to find particular conversations from days , weeks or months ago, even on occasions when I am unable to recollect the exact channels where the conversations took place.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Slack just makes conversations between teammates very easy or maybe I should just say too easy. Although this is something to like from my perspective as a user and has led to more productivity at work for me, it has also been a source of distraction as there have been so many times where conversations I have had on Slack easily evolved into non-work discussions.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Slack is an highly efficient means of communication and one which I think teams and companies should give a try.
Pros
- Reliable
- Performance Enhancing
