Snowflake is available globally on AWS, Azure and Google Cloud Platform. With a common and interchangeable code base, Snowflake delivers advantages such as global data replication, which means you can move your data to any cloud in any region, without having to re-code your applications or learn new skills.

Easy to use, flexible and isolated workloads
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Snowflake from other similar products?
Snowflake is a Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) product, easy to use, manage, maintain. Snowflake is unique architecture from other data warehouse products. The architecture provides better design to meet the better performance by its flexible and isolated workloads. The architecture, its three layers (database storage, query processing, cloud services) provides a unique purpose, easily scalable, and easily maintainable. Thus, I would say, Snowflake’s architecture is a hybrid of traditional shared-disk database architectures and shared-nothing database architectures. Snowflake built on the cloud to tackled limitations of legacy data warehouses.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
My favorite aspect of the product is creating and managing virtual warehouses to meet different workloads. This provides an isolated workload and capacity (Virtual warehouse ). This allows separating or categorizing workloads and query processing according to our requirements. The snowflake database is managed by the snowflake team. This simplifies the DBA job from maintenance kinds of tasks such as patchworks and regular upgrades. Snowflake provides a unique architecture that supports structured and semi-structured data. provides the ready-made solutions to process with the semi-structured data such as JSON, Avro, ORC, Parquet, and XML
What do you dislike most about this product?
Snowflake provides Virtual warehouses for having performance. however, it may cost more.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Snowflake is best for a data warehouse. When you want to compute capacities separately to manage the workloads independently, Snowflake is the best option, because it provides isolated virtual warehouses.
Pros
- Fair
- Helps Innovate
- Continually Improving Product
- Reliable

Scalable big data and integration for any business
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Snowflake from other similar products?
Snowflake provides web-based easy management tools and big data capability that is unparalleled in the industry. The competitors I have seen have extremely complicated setups that require a lot of training. My team had a couple hours of training, and we were off and running and have built an entire BI and Analytics team around the product.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
The truly scalable nature of the product allows any size organization to get access to industry-leading technology at a scaled price. My company is a fairly small higher education institution, and because we only pay for what we use, we are able to get the absolute best database platform without having huge licensing fees or hardware/software infrastructure.
What do you dislike most about this product?
We are on the east coast, and Snowflake releases all of the update to the west cost LONG before the east coast can have access. It's sometimes months before we can use new features that others can use.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
You should absolutely proceed. It's very easy to set up an account and just try it for little or no cost. If you know any SQL at all, you can be up and running very quickly.
Pros
- Helps Innovate
- Continually Improving Product
- Reliable
- Enables Productivity
Cons
- Vendor Friendly Policies
- Less Efficient Service
- Security Frustrates
