What differentiates Tableau from other similar products?
It is used to entertain an ETL workflow to splice data sources, clean data and then combine it to perform joins, and generate a final result to use operations such as join, rename, merge, and control flow plane. Tableau also helps explore data to get data quality issues right and create calculated fields for analysis.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
If your data sets come in without a lot of management, Tableau Prep can help you separate the data before you start trying to create visualizations for your end users. You'll save a lot of time this way, rather than seeing problems once you're making dashboards. Extracts that are created as a single dodge allow you to work with multiple data sources in a single workbook to make it much smoother and faster.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Not good if you need to query your database for a data set to review and prepare for analysis. You should have more alignment from a specialized tool, you don't have large data sets or your data is relatively simple, Tableau may not be necessary.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Well suited for sucking up multiple files to concert and clean to get an output file for more detailed dissection, it is great software, mostly all you need to do is prepare some files and perform some simple joins and other simple data preparation steps to get your data into Tableau shape.
