Nextiva to Expand UCaaS Services Beyond US

On April 20, 2021, Nextiva briefed Info-Tech on its cloud-based Nextiva One suite. Nextiva One is powered through Nextiva’s NextOS platform, which brings together communication and business applications that are aimed at small- to mid-sized US organizations. However, later this year, Nextiva is aiming to broaden its geographic reach beyond the US into Canada and the UK.

Nextiva has two major communication applications that make up its unified-communications-as-a-service (UCaaS) offering: Business Phone (voice) and Cospace (videoconferencing and collaboration). Users can expect the standard features for collaboration here, including meetings for up to 250 people, team chat, screen sharing, scheduling, and file sharing. These solutions are HIPAA compliant and integrate with a wide range of other collaboration tools, such as Microsoft Teams.

The broader business applications that users can leverage as part of NextOS include helpdesk support and a customer relationship management (CRM) solution.

Nextiva’s 2021 roadmap aims to solidify its UCaaS offering, updating its mobile application to include SMS/MMS and voicemail transcription. Moreover, Nextiva plans to bring in new contact center capabilities through an upcoming partnership with a major contact center software provider (currently NDA).

Our Take

Nextiva is an excellent choice to shortlist for small- to mid-sized US organizations who want a reliable UCaaS offering without the fuss. Indeed, Nextiva launched a new plan in 2020 that aimed to meet organizations’ standard VoIP needs, owing to the demand for it. However, as smaller organizations start to scale, Nextiva offers the opportunity to leverage further collaboration, helpdesk, and CRM needs, all within one platform.

However, for large enterprises or organizations that require a more complicated multideployment model, Nextiva may not meet those needs. Though Nextiva will help with migration to its public-cloud-based UCaaS offering, ongoing on-premises or hybrid support is not available.
