Individualization of rewards and recognition demonstrates that you know and respect the recipient. It also makes the reward more meaningful and memorable to the employee. In order to provide a meaningful reward, ask employees for their likes, dislikes, and general preferences. The more you tie rewards to the individual, the more it will:
- Motivate them (it is something that they actually want)
- Positively affect their engagement (it has a personal touch that shows how much you appreciate their contribution)
