Incredibly Powerful but difficult to get started
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Splunk Enterprise Security from other similar products?
Splunk is genuinely the best tool for big data analytics. It is not focused on security as some other SIEM solutions, it offers the full stack of analytics. This however comes with a heavy burden on usability, it requires alot of training and investment to be effective.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
It's power. If properly implemented and maintained it can be best source of information for a company, doing what ever is needed with big data to support many functions in the organisation.
What do you dislike most about this product?
It's usability. With the depth of features comes alot to learn. This tool would be very daunting for a junior to try and pick up and run with. It requires much investment to work to it's full capacity
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Consider your budget and how much information you need. If you are an organisation that needs to see and analyze alot of data from many different business streams, including but not limited to, security, then Splunk should be considered as it cannot be beaten if invested in properly.
Pros
- Helps Innovate
- Reliable

- Enables Productivity

Excellent Product - Very Expensive

What differentiates Splunk Enterprise Security from other similar products?
Price - and now that Cisco owns it, it's hard to tell if they will make it better or worse. Their track record is pretty poor, so I'm very concerned. Make Elastic or even the free open source products attractive at this point.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
Data presentation/
What do you dislike most about this product?
Cost. While it's an awesome product, it's very expensive.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
Wait to see what Cisco plans to do to it before making the investment.

The right solution for SIEM
Likeliness to Recommend
What differentiates Splunk Enterprise Security from other similar products?
Integration with business is an important issue for security solutions. Splunk becomes more meaningful and useful in organizations not only as a security solution but also as a place where data is collected and interpreted and security operations are carried out. It does not block traffic like classic EPS-based SIEMs. It integrates with all applications and systems in your infrastructure. It can receive all kinds of data from any point and integrate it into existing data.
What is your favorite aspect of this product?
It definitely increases visibility. When properly designed for the entire company, it provides access to all kinds of data with a bar like Google. The rest is up to the talent of the relevant teams.
What do you dislike most about this product?
Definitely the price. When you consider only security solutions, it lags behind in the price competition.
What recommendations would you give to someone considering this product?
The most important issue is the need to start with the right architecture and the right setup.
